Deanna Leslie Moore, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on July 8th, 2025, just shy of her 61st birthday. Born and raised in Harper Woods, Michigan, Deanna carried the spirit of a true Midwesterner—resilient, generous, and full of heart. Her life was a vibrant patchwork of creativity, curiosity, and a deep unwavering love for her family.
Deanna was the youngest of four siblings born to George and Virginia (Krakus) Moore, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her brothers Brian Moore (Fran), and Darren Moore (Patricia) and her sister Tracy Moore. Deanna was a proud and devoted aunt to Bria (Kaci), Andrew (Lisa), David (Dorothy), Lauren (Nick), Galina and Nickolas. She was also lovingly connected to Rocky and Echo through her brother Brian’s extended family. Her role as an aunt- and great-aunt to her nine grandnieces and nephews—was one of the greatest joys of her life. She also has numerous cousins and special aunts and uncles. All of her family members will carry her free spirit forward with every road trip, every craft project, and every chorus sung at full volume.
Deanna held a deep love for learning and the arts. A proud graduate of Harper Woods High School. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Theatre from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, followed by a master’s degree in human resources from National Louis University. She had a remarkable ability to balance intellect and imagination—equally at home discussing Broadway as she was plotting the next float trip or antique mall excursion or helping someone choose a paint color.
To know Deanna was to know someone who lived fully, boldly, and unapologetically herself. She was the first to turn up the music and the last to leave the dance floor. She loved traveling, Jeeping through rugged trails, floating down rivers with friends, hunting for forgotten gems in antique stores, and diving deep into genealogy research. She found joy in crafting, storytelling, and the simple pleasures of a good playlist and great company.
Though she never had children of her own, Deanna was a second mother, a mentor, and a lifelong cheerleader to her nieces, nephews, and nine grandnieces and nephews and even bonus children who come along. Her legacy is one of devotion and unaltered love—the kind that shows up, checks in, and is always there for the big moments.
Deanna had the rare ability to make a room feel warmer, funnier, and more alive just by being in it. Her laugh was truly infectious, her advice honest, and her presence irreplaceable.
A celebration of Deanna’s life will be held on July 19th, 2025 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM at Kutis Funeral Home. Located at 10151 Gravois Road, Affton, MO 63123. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Ranken Jordan Pediatric Hospital Foundation, or the Jeep Charity Riders Bike Bald Group. Or if unable, simply take a moment to sing your favorite song at the top of your lungs and dance it out, in her honor.
Additionally, in honor of Deanna’s vibrant personality and open heart, guests are welcome to wear bright colors or whatever brings them comfort and joy. This celebration of life is just that—a celebration. Deanna wouldn’t have wanted a somber affair. She believed in laughter, self-expression, and showing up exactly as you are. Come as you are, share a story, and help us fill the room with the light and love she gave so freely.
Deanna, thank you for the stories, the music, the laughter, the strength, and all the love. You were unforgettable and always will be.
Deanna was truly a bright spot in the world. Positivity and Kindness were her Superpowers. She never met a stranger because she accepted everybody she met at face value. She may have physically left us but I know she will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who know her. Rest in Peace my friend.
