In Loving Memory

Muir Jr., Leo Adrian

January 9, 1948 - October 31, 2026

Leo Adrian Muir Jr., age 78, passed away on October 31, 2026. He was the loving husband of 41 years to Eileen Muir.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo A. Muir Sr. and Melvina June Muir (Marler). Leo is survived by his wife, Eileen; his children Sandra Sleeper (Steve), Joseph, Michael (Lisa), Brianna O’Hara (Mike), and Ryan; and his nine grandchildren: Erin, Mary, Delaney, Sam, Harrison, Hudson, Lylah, Kinsley, and Miryn. He also leaves behind a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and friends who will miss him deeply.

Leo served with the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War, completing 30 jumps from helicopters and planes. After the war he earned a degree in history from Cleveland State University and spent many years in sales and management. In retirement he returned to the things that brought him the most joy—bass fishing with his kids, always with more gear than anyone needed, and long card games with family. He loved world history, could hold his own in any trivia conversation, and never stopped learning.

Those who knew him best will remember a steady, strong-willed man who was protective and deeply loyal. He didn’t say much, but he didn’t have to. His presence was enough. Friends remember his humor and his stories. His family will remember a man who simply wanted to be with the people he loved.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the Missouri School for the Deaf.
