Murphy, Ethel Elizabeth (nee Hobusch)

September 6, 1930 - June 3, 2024

 

93, passed away peacefully on Monday June 3, 2024.

Ethel was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years Cyrus Russell Murphy and her dear sister Edna (Joe) Biffignani.

She is survived by her three children; Debbie (Jerry) Kirsch, Bill (Suzy) Murphy and John (Denise) Murphy; she will also be missed dearly by her grandchildren Brian (Hannah) Kirsch, Chris Kirsch, Robert (Nicole) Murphy and Laura (Brad) Calzone; as well as 8 great-grandchildren, dear nieces and nephews and many other relatives and cherished friends.

The last 18 months she lived at Chesterfield Villas Delmar Gardens-independent living. Meeting new friends and enjoying music, crafts, bingo, etc..

Ethel was an avid volunteer at St. Anthony’s Hospital for many years. Involved with Ladies’ Elks Club (Heege and MacKenzie). An avid bowler St. Dominic Savio Parish at Red Bird Lanes. Love for bingo and enjoyed her casino quarter machines.

Special thanks to Mercy South Hospice Care. Special thanks to Dr. Mark Fogarty, MD , Stephanie Bingham (nurse practicioner). Your dedication and kindness to our mother made a difference in her life.

Private interment Thursday June 6 at Sunset Memorial Park 10180 Gravois Rd Affton, MO 63123 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice. A service of KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL.

  2. My sympathy to Ethel’s family. I have been friends with Debbie since 8th grade and have fond memories of her Mom. Her & Russ were blessed with a loving marriage and family. My prayers are with the entire family.

    We are so sorry for the loss of your mom. She absolutely adored your family. Whenever she came to your house for family gatherings, she was just beaming. You could feel the warmth of her joy all the way across the street to our house. She such a wonderful example of love and kindness which she passed on to her family. May you continue to honor her by passing down all of the wonderful things she taught you about life. Love the Van Winkles

  5. Always will remember going to Sunset pool in the white station wagon on a hot summer day with Mrs Murphy driving my sister and and I along with Debbie and Bill. Thank you Mrs Murphy and may God Bless You.
