Murrey

In Loving Memory

Murrey, Gertrude “Gertie” Joyce (nee Manley)

November 17, 1940 - July 2, 2024

Gertrude Joyce Murrey (née Manley) age 83 passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday July 2nd, 2024.
She is now reunited with her husband Lloyd Murrey Sr. Other family members waiting to welcome her in her new Heavenly home are her parents, William and Mary (Keough) Manley. Siblings, Dorothy Manley, William Manley, Joan Gross, Pat Manley, Marian Sills, Eddie Manley, and Jerry Manley. Her father-in-law John Murrey. Mother-in-law Ethel (Pritchett) Murrey. Brother and sister in laws Vernon Murrey, John Murrey, Ann Murrey, Bob Manley, Hazel Manley, Rich Schaffer and Jim Robinson. Several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was the beloved mother of Theresa (Thomas) Bruening and Lloyd Jr. (Bo)(Julie) Murrey.  Dearest grandmother to Steven Mongiello (Kristi Keister) and Sarah (Donald) Harbaugh. Cherished great grandma Gertie to Colton Harbaugh.  Loving sister and best friend to Margie Schaffer and Elaine Robinson. Dear sister-in-law to Sheila (Rich) Dencker, James (Penny) Murrey, and Yvonne (Larry) Penning. Joyce was loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Joyce never met a stranger, wherever she was she was striking up a conversation.  Joyce loved connecting with family whether it was a conversation on the phone or in person visit or adventure.
In her earlier years Joyce enjoyed fishing (especially if she caught more or a bigger one than her husband’s Lloyd catch), playing cards, bingo, bowling, and shopping. She was an avid fountain diet coke drinker, QVC shopper and Cardinals fan. When you seen her she was usually in her Quacker Factory (qvc) clothes, carrying a large Styrofoam cup (qt or 7-11) filled with diet coke. She always joined in on family fun even if it wasn’t something she would normally do.   Joyce was always willing to help all in any way she could.
She will always be remembered for her love of unending questions and to be sure “ya know!!!”
Services: Visitation will be at Kutis Affton 10151 Gravois, St. Louis, Mo.,63123 Sunday July 14th, 3-7 p.m. Monday July 15th, 9:30 prayers, followed by a procession to St. Martin of Tours for a 10 a.m. funeral mass. Followed by interment at Park Lawn cemetery.
