Judi-Nassif-002

In Loving Memory

Nassif, Judith (nee: Sihnhold, Domian)

Passed away peacefully at home on April 5, 2023, at age 74 of Parkinson’s disease.  She is survived by her loving spouse of 27 years John Michael Nassif: children Tom (Danae) Domian, Matt (Michelle) Domian, Aimee Nassif, Dan Nassif, Peter (Kim) Nassif, her brother Robert (Dianne), and most importantly the best “Grammy” ever to Tommy Domian, Kate Domian, Madeline Domian, Maria Domian, Alex Nassif and Sydney Nassif. She was a wonderful aunt, cousin, and friend to all.

Judi was born in St. Louis to Robert and Pauline Sihnhold before moving to Affton, MO.  Here she was the “tomboy” of the neighborhood and an active member and leader of several clubs at Affton High School.  After graduating from Central Missouri State University with a Master’s Degree in Education, Judi joined Fox High School in 1971 as the first female DECA instructor in the state.  For the next 30 years, Judi guided her students in marketing and business while instilling in them the self-confidence needed to succeed in life.

After retiring from teaching, Judi embarked on a successful career as a travel agent.  Never idle, Judi’s passion for travel and adventure with her husband John, took her to the far reaches of the earth.  Her checklist includes six of the seven continents (no doubt, she will still find her way to Antarctica), all fifty states, and over 35 countries visited.  Memorable experiences include hiking the Annapurna Trail in Nepal, front-row seats to the Northern Lights in Iceland, game drives in Tanzania, and swimming in the Fountain of Youth in Bali.  Domestically, she was just as untethered considering her skydiving, cave spelunking, dog sledding, and active volcano hiking experiences.  This thirst for life and adventure was something she instilled in her two sons, Tom and Matt.

Her most important role was that of “Grammy”.  Judi adored her six grandchildren.  They were her everything.  Always taking them on adventures to explore new things, “Grammy” and her grandchildren never sat still. Kindergarten vacations, chaperoning school trips, cross-country road trips, and traveling abroad are just some of the ways she showed her love to each of them.

In Judi’s final years, it was her husband, John, and his unwavering commitment to her health and comfort that allowed Judi the strength to keep fighting. Parkinson’s is an insidious disease that can cast a shadow of sadness over every aspect of life. Team Judi and John took this challenge head-on and won, resulting in many years of joy, love, and happiness.  We thank you and love you John for all you have done for Judi/Mom/Grammy.

Services:  Visitation on Wednesday, April 12th from 4-8PM at Kutis Affton Funeral home (10151 Gravois Road 63123).  Thursday, April 13th services at Kutis Affton Funeral Home starting at 12:30pm with internment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery immediately following.

If you wish to honor Judi, go on an adventure and/or donate to American Parkinson Disease Association, St. Louis Chapter 16100 Chesterfield Parkway W. 5. This lady right here was instrumental as a mentor to me as I started my teaching career and DECA sponsorship. I enjoyed 27 years in the business and she showed me how early on. The world will be a different place without her!

  9. Judi was my big sis in college. We were roommates in the DZ sorority. She gave me a lot of confidence that it needed. She also helped me get my first job teaching at Arnold. We were also pregnant at the same time, and she went with me to a class on how to take care of a new baby. Without her help I don’t know what I would have done with the new baby. I thank her for all the help she has given me in life.

  13. Judi was my DECA mentor, my roommate, my best friend, and our traveling buddy. Judi planned some wonderful trips and let us join her and John – Dubai, Iceland, cruise around the tip of So America. Nothing ordinary when you traveled with Judi. She was all about the fun and love. Both our moms passed in September so we would celebrate with lunch and memories on our own special Mother’s Day. Judi will now celebrate with our mothers and wait for me to join them some day! Sympathy and love to all of her family on the loss of the best wife, mother, Grammy that I have had the joy of knowing.

  19. Judi was an amazing person and friend. What fun we had at the “guys cooking for the girls” dinner at the Nassif estate. Still laugh remembering that night. Loved hearing about all of the adventures that Judi planned for John to stay active! and enjoyed seeing Judi surrounded by all of her loving family on Christmas cards. Keep her strength alive in you, John.

  23. Judi was always so much fun to be with.
She would volunteer to take the lead when nobody else volunteered. You could count on Judi to be your friend. The last time I saw Judi was a few years ago. She was my member guest for golf at Whitmoor. The theme was the sixties. A beautiful woman.
Rest in peace my dear friend. Until we meet again

  29. So full of life and a spark for adventure. When we were young she asked me to be her escort to a dance, that was a wonderful honor for me. Funny story about Judy. I had posted I’d been to beautiful Prudhoe Bay, she was baffled because she wasn’t familiar with Prudhoe Bay after all her travels. When I explained it was the oil fields on the north slope of Alaska she laughed! Judy will be missed by all who knew her.

  35. Judi and I were both participants in Rock Steady for Parkinson’s. She earned the nickname “Hollywood” by wearing her sunglasses indoors frequently. All of us in the class loved her, her spark, sense of humor, love of adventure, but most of all her dedication to family. God speed Hollywood, on to your next journey. We will miss you here on earth.

  51. It was my lucky day when Judi Domian and Kent Duniphan accepted me as a student teacher back in 1999.

As a teacher and a travel agent, this fearless, savvy, and unstoppable woman married young, then went on to raise 2 wonderful sons singlehandedly while she taught and mentored hundreds of students through the Fox HS Marketing work study program.

Her side job as a travel agent fed her passion for travel which took her nearly everywhere in the world. She’s parachuted out of planes, climbed mountains, and ridden camels across the desert. Judi’s planning skills and travel acumen served many of us create our own great travel experiences.

Judi carried herself like a model. Blonde and beautiful, she and John dated for a decade before she finally agreed to marry him. Together they were the center of a warm and loving extended family.

Like everything else in her life Judi managed her own perfectly timed exit from this world less than 48 hours after her decision to go on hospice. She always was the most decisive in-action person I know.

I’m profoundly grateful to have benefited from her mentoring and friendship, and for the opportunity to visit her one last time to tell her how much she’s meant to me over the years. I, along with so many others, would not be who I am without her guidance and friendship.

Enjoy this next adventure Judi! We will miss you greatly.

I did spend many years in international trade, however my heart was led back to school to become a teacher. Long term, I would like to become a DECA teacher like Judi. She made learning fun and exciting, leaving me with memories I still reflect on to this day. Judi even accompanied me on my senior trip and helped plan my honeymoon years later.

Her lasting impression, along with my positive high school experience is only strong and prominent because of the wonderful experiences Judi had exposed me to. By the age of 18 I had traveled more with Judi, than I had traveled with my own family.

I can ONLY imagine what a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and Wife she was and I sincerely mourn such a deep loss to the family.
