Asleep in Jesus on Friday, July 19th, 2024.

Devoted father of Jennifer (Dan) Brown, Denise Cowley, and the late Daniel Nelson; beloved partner of the late Dorothy Horton; adoring grandfather of Kailee (Kyle) Fulhorst, Anthony Brown, Natalie Elam, Isabella Elam, Desira Cowley, and Ki Cowley-McCarty; cherished great grandfather of Katherine Brown, Mia Fulhorst, Kendrix Cowley, Raelynn Cowley, Alonzo Cowley, and Paisley Cowley; dearest son of the late Everett and Ida (nee Hill) Nelson; loving brother of the late Richard Nelson and Linda Nelson; our dear uncle, great uncle, cousin, and friend.

Dave grew up in Hinsdale, NH he briefly went to Chicago before coming to St. Louis where he attended I.T.T. Tech.  He was a welder/machinist, he worked for Contractors Welding, Inc in Rock Hill, MO the majority of his career until he retired.  He was so intelligent and loved figuring out how things worked and could fix anything.  Dave was a character, some would say a man of few words however never filtered.  We can write a book on (Dad’s Euphemism’s) his grandchildren and Bob Evans folks know lots of these by heart.  Dad loved to Read, Drive, Walk, Hike and Explore.

In lieu of flowers, contributions made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are greatly appreciated.

SERVICES: Visitation will be held at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL (10151 Gravois Rd., 63123) on Wednesday, July 24th from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM, with the funeral service to begin at 1:00 PM. Interment at Sunset Memorial Park.
