Nelson, Janet Lea (nee Hood), passed away on December 13, 2025.
Beloved wife of the late David Nelson; loving mother of David L. Nelson and Scott (Amanda) Nelson; cherished grandmother of Laurel and Clara Nelson; dear sister of Don Hood and the late Richard (Irma Jean survives) Nelson.
Services: Private services to be held with interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
I taught with Janet about 25 years at Hancock Elementary. We were friends for a long time but we haven’t gotten together for several years. We are sorry for your loss of a wonderful mother and grandmother. We will miss her.

Janet was a good friend willing to help others no matter what. She was a great mother, wife, grandmother who dearly loved her family and her cats and even our pup, Vinny. She will be dearly missed. Sending prayers for peace and comfort to her dear family.
Janet was a wonderful friend. We not only taught together, but ended up building our homes near each other. I could always depend on my friend Janet. She was a strong woman who faced life’s challenges with determination. I will greatly miss my friend.
I’m so sorry to hear about her passing. She was my first grade teacher. I absolutely adored her. She will greatly be missed. Such an amazing person.
