In Loving Memory

Neu, Shirley (nee: Roethemeier)

Shirley Neu (Roethemeier) passed away October 28, 2021 in St. Louis, Missouri.

 

Shirley was a devoted wife, loving and cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt,

cousin and friend.

 

Shirley was born on March 9,1936 to Harry and Margaret Roethemeier in Stotts City,

Missouri. After graduating from Mt. Vernon High School in 1954, she attended

Southwest Missouri State where she earned her degree in Education.  Following

graduation she made an adventurous move to California to pursue her teaching career.

While in California she met and married Jim Neu in1966.  Shirley was a dedicated

teacher for many years in California and Nevada.  Upon her retirement from teaching

in 1995 she returned to Springfield, Missouri.  During her retirement, she enjoyed

out-of-town day trips, dining out and spending time with her family and friends.

 

Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Jim Neu for 52 years. She is survived by her

daughters, Teri (Larry) Staab and Kelly (Jeff) McCune.  Six grandchildren; Megan, Jake,

Sarah, Emily, J.R. and Kenzie. Her sister Sharon (Morris) Miller and brother Sam

(Susan) Roethemeier.

 

Visitation will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 from 10:30-11:30 AM at

Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Graveside Services will follow at 12:00 PM at Missouri

Veterans Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of

Southwest Missouri, 3161 W. Norton Road, Springfield, MO 65803.
