Asleep in Jesus on Friday, February 23rd, 2024.

Beloved husband of the late Doris Nierdieck (nee Lowe); loving father of Vicki (Ron) Carroll; adoring grandfather of Stephen (Lauren) Carroll, John (Rebecca) Carroll, and Kathryn (Justin) Halbe; cherished great grandfather of Isaac, William, Jacob, Andrew, Samuel, Madison, Josiah, and Aubrey; special friend to Dottie Miller and the late Marilyn Stuesse & family; our dearest uncle and friend.

In lieu of flowers, contributions made to St. Lucas Lutheran Church (7100 Morganford Rd 63116) or to Historic Trinity Lutheran Church (812 Soulard St 63104) or to the charity of your choice are greatly appreciated.

SERVICES: Visitation will be held at The Chapel at Laclede Groves (723 S. Laclede Station Rd 63119) on Saturday, March 9th from 9:00 – 11:00 AM, with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment at New Bethlehem Cemetery.

  2. Mel was a tremendous supporter of the St. Louis Chapter National Railway Historical Society, where I got to know him. He was a joy to work within the many projects we were involved in. My condolences to his family.
