Otte, Richard

In Loving Memory

Otte, Richard Thomas

February 14, 1945 - May 28, 2025

Richard Thomas Otte was born on February 14, 1945, in Perryville, Missouri, and passed away on May 28, 2025. He was a longtime resident of Oakville, Missouri, where he lived with his beloved wife of 60 years, Evelyne.

Richard was a proud Marine who served two tours in Vietnam in 1964 and 1965. Hardly a day passed without him wearing his Marine Corps hat.

He built a 35-year career with United Parcel Service, where he was a proud member of the Teamsters. Through long hours and the strength of his union, he worked tirelessly to support and uplift his family.

Of all the roles he held in life, none brought him greater joy than being a devoted grandpa. His four granddaughters were the light of his life—he beamed whenever they were near and took every opportunity to share with them Missouri’s hidden treasures, from roadside attractions to his favorite fishing spots.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyne Otte; his sons, Aaron Otte (Joseph) and Nicholas Otte (Danielle); and four cherished grandchildren: Gwenyth, Charlotte, Kate, and Vivienne.

Rest in peace, Dad. You are remembered, honored, and loved every day.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Margaret Mary in Oakville, Missouri. Following the Mass, Richard will be laid to rest with military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of gifts or flowers, please make a donation to either Wounded Warriors or The March of Dimes in his honor.

  3. Dear Evelyn & Family,
Hearing about Dick’s death left me in such a stupor, that I’m still trying very hard to accept the fact. His death has caused so many emotions within me; that I still find it so very hard to believe. Growing up, living so close to each other, it was like having another brother. And, with your coming from such a large & loving family, I know, you know, exactly what I mean. There are brothers; then there are very special brothers. Dick was in the category of Very, Special Brothers! Walking to school together, chatting in-between classes and making lasting memories were a very big part of our lives. He was such a cool classmate, wonderful neighbor and a true all-around friend. Everybody loved Dick! Always so kind to everyone. I can certainly understand his love of his family, especially those sweet granddaughters. You’ve been so blessed to be able to share so many years together; and I pray all his memories bring you more happiness than you could even imagine. God bless you all. If you ever need to talk to him, he’ll always be tucked in the corner of your heart! Love and condolences, Elta
