  1. James was a gracious host and friend to me. I met him through the Gateway Dulcimer Society and often visited him at his home. He always welcomed me for holiday and birthday gatherings. I will think of him often and I imagine he will be playing one of the mountain dulcimers he made himself as he joins the heavenly band.

  4. What a joy it has been to know Mr. Otto. Always a smile and a welcoming greeting when we’d meet. I’ll miss our trips to Texas Roadhouse and him letting my city dogs run around his backyard for a taste of sweet freedom. I will miss him terribly but so thankful he’s with his Freda again. All my love

    • Jim was a good friend, and a great teacher. He was gracious & giving. He was patient & kind. I loved our adventures. I miss him terribly, but I am so grateful to know he has been reunited with Freda. I will think of him every time I turn wood. And go to ChickFilA. And White Castle. He had so much fire and spunk. Much love to Cathy, and all who knew and will miss this sweet man.

  6. I will miss seeing him at Jefferson Barracks Hospital when we visit next time. He had such a loving smile when he greeted us at the door. Such a talented wood craftsman, I know Rocky loved his cane Jim made him for his retirement. Thank you for your service and sacrifices Jim.

  7. Jim was a loving light shining Christian gentleman. My encounters with Jim were through church and we always enjoyed his peaceful and comforting smile and disposition. I’ve learned so much more about Jim that we had in common that I didn’t realize reading the lovely remembrances. Rest you good and faithful servant of God.
