Patton, Wayne G.

 

of Crestwood, MO went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2017, he was 82 years old.  Wayne was born on January 7, 1935 in Affton, MO to Elmer and Irma Patton who  proceeded him in death.  He has a brother Dennis Patton of Webster Groves, MO.

Wayne married the love of his life Dorothy Winterrose of St. Louis, MO and together they raised 4 children.  Fawn Luecke of Poplar Bluff, MO, Cathy Patton of St. Charles, MO, Brian Patton of Midtown, DE and Kevin Patton (Barbara Patton) of Springfield, IL.  He has been blessed with 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

He attended St. Mary’s High School where he was an  outstanding baseball and basketball standout.  While at St. Mary’s he received the distinguished Babe Ruth Award for  baseball and was offered a minor league contract with the  Cinncinnati Reds.  Instead, Florida State University offered him a full 4 year scholarship which he decided would be best.

While attending Florida State University, he received the Scholar-Athlete Award and graduated in 1956 with a 4.0 grade point average.  He was also vice president of the Lambda Chi Fraternity. Upon graduation he joined the United States Army where he achieved the rank of Captain.  After completing his  assignment in the military, he enrolled in St. Louis University’s Law School where he graduated in 1961.

Wayne started his law career with Lashley and Neun in  downtown St. Louis.  He would go on to open his own law firm and partner with state senator Frank Bild.   He practiced all  aspects of law.  He also taught a law class at Parkway West for the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). He was a long time member of the Rotary Club and would  ultimately serve as president.  He enjoyed working out at the MIssouri Athletic Club.

Wayne attended Our Lady of Providence Church and was a usher for many years.  With all of his accomplishments, he found his role as a father and husband as the most  important. He attended all of his children’s sporting events.  He was very passionate about their play and instituted many values that are seen through the success of his children. The family wishes to thank Dr. Rand Sommer.

Services:  Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois Rd., on Saturday, July 1 at 9:30 a.m. to Our Lady of  Providence Catholic Church for 10 a.m. Mass.  Interment at Resurrection Cemetery.  Visitation Friday at 4-8 p.m.
