Pitman

In Loving Memory

Pitman, John De Jr.

May 12, 1945 - June 9, 2023

Born May 12, 1945. Passed away on June 9, 2023 at the age of 78.

A life full of family and fun, our Dad never knew a stranger. Our Dad married Barbara Pitman (nee Leier), the love of his life in 1966, and celebrated 57 years of marriage.

He was preceded in death by his parent’s John De Sr., and Viola Pitman and his older sister Betty and younger brother Reed.

Loving father of Michele Magner (Michael), Melissa Crites (Matt), John De (Kate) Pitman III, beautiful granddaughters, who he loved dearly, Morgan, Marley and Josephine.

Loving brother to Mary, Jim (Karen), Anne, and Ruth(John), and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews and a dear friend to all.

A lifelong resident of Brentwood, Missouri, he enjoyed exploring the streets around town, playing in the creek beds and attending Brentwood High School. He continued his family’s tradition of carpentry and craftsmanship.  A 50-year legacy with John Pitman Construction Inc, he left his mark on projects around the St. Louis region.

The happiest moments of his life were spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Our dad loved fishing in any and all rivers, lakes and streams especially with his family by his side and sharing his passion for fishing and the outdoors.  Dad also had an amazing sense of humor, quick wit, smile and laugh that brightened up a room.  Accompanied with the laughter was always music.  Dad loved all genres of music. He treasured the special moments with family and friends sitting on his patio and singing to the playing of acoustic guitar or listening to independent radio.

Dad will be dearly missed by all who knew him, however his legacy will live on through our memories, laughter, love and song:

“Some day when we meet up yonder

We’ll stroll hand in hand again

In a land that knows no partin’

Blue eyes crying in the rain.”

Celebration of Life: Please join us in celebrating our dad’s legacy at the Trainwreck Saloon at 9243 Manchester Rd, 63144 of Friday, June 16th from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
