Raymond Plahn, 97, went to his heavenly home on October 3, 2026 to be with his Lord and savior and his wonderful wife, Doris, of 68 years. He is survived by his daughter Debra (Keith) Binggeli and his son Dr. Craig (Dr. Diana) Plahn; two granddaughters Nicole (Ryan) Pahl and Dr. Kelsey (Dr. Michael) Engelman; one great grandson, one great granddaughter and one soon to be great granddaughter; one nephew and two nieces.
Raymond was born in Boone, Iowa (1928) to Goldie and Henry Plahn. He graduated from Boone High School and afterwards went to a tour of duty in the army. After being discharged from the army, he enrolled in Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Education. During his last year at Iowa State University, he found his love, Doris. They were engaged to be married on November 25, 1950. Graduating from Iowa State on June 15, 1951 Doris and Raymond were married on June 17, 1951, Father’s Day. Raymond, after interviewing at several different schools districts selected Webster Groves School District in St Louis, Missouri. After his first year of teaching Industrial Education in Webster Groves School District, he enrolled in Missouri University to work on a Master’s Degree of Industrial Education. Raymond earned his Master’s Degree in 1954. Raymond spent 35 years teaching in the Webster Groves School District before retiring. Raymond and his wife, Doris, enjoyed traveling and visiting many countries throughout the world. During the winters, they enjoyed spending five weeks on South Padre Island. However, surpassing the delights of travel, which he treasured and never took for granted, Raymond’s deepest joy was his beloved wife and family. Raymond was very active in Webster Gardens Lutheran Church. He served on many committees and in many positions within the church community. Raymond will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
SERVICES: Visitation at The Lutheran Church of Webster Gardens (8749 Watson Road Webster Groves, Missouri 63119) on Wednesday, October 14, 9:00 a.m. until funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Care Fund of The Church of Webster Gardens appreciated.
