Portell, Martin William Jr, “Marty”

Age 74, passed away on Feb 17, 2024in Barnhart, Mo. He was born on May, 24th, 1949 to Martin and Charlene Portell.

Marty is survived by his children, Clif (Stacey) Portell, Melanie (Troy) Sheppard, and Josh (Sunah) Portell; his stepchildren Stacey Fuhrman and John Hildreth; his grandchildren Dillon (Karly) Sheppard, Tori (Andrew) Jackson, Olivia Sheppard, Jake Sheppard, Carter Portell, Sophia Sheppard, Anastasia (Cameron) Price, Jessica (Jerry) Bergner, Isabella Fuhrman and multiple great grandchildren. Marty is also survived by his brothers Gary (Dot) Portell, Craig (Rhonda) Portell, and Lynn (Jana) Portell; niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Portell.

Marty was a lifelong volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America in many different roles. He impacted the lives of hundreds of scouts over the years and loved all of the other volunteers he met and worked with. Marty was happiest being outdoors and most weekends you would find him and at least one of his sons at an area shooting range with his bow. All who met Marty know he was a quiet and kind person who loved his family over everything.

Services will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Friday, April 5th, 2024 at 11:30 AM. Service will be open to the public.
