Dorothy Pryor

In Loving Memory

Pryor, Dorothy E.

February 11, 1930 - December 19, 2025

Dorothy E. Pryor (nee Rutschow) went home to Jesus on December 19, 2025, at age 95.

Dorothy was born to Elmer and Ruth Rutschow on February 11, 1930, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. As a child, she and her sister, Carol, helped their parents with their work as Salvation Army Officers, often moving to different cities to help the less fortunate. Despite the frequent moves, Dorothy focused on her studies, becoming a member of the National Honor Society upon graduation from Maplewood Richmond Heights High School in 1948.

Early in life, she was called to share God’s Word with children. She spent many years serving in Sunday School, children’s church and VBS.  She was a dedicated member of South Side A/G Church in St. Louis, where she met her husband, Orien Pryor, whom she married in October 1971. They served in various ministries well into retirement.

Dorothy was a secretary and stenographer at Aeronautical Chart and Information Center during the time of the charting of the Walk on the Moon. She later retired from State Farm Insurance.

Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.

Dorothy joins her parents and her husband Orien in Heaven. Along with her sister Carol Myers (Del), and her step-daughters Linda Brown and Vera Thomason. She is rejoicing with many family members and friends that have been waiting for her.

She is survived by her step-son Randy Pryor (Lisa), her grandchildren Jeana Beazley, Michele Diehl (Jeff), Jenni Laughlin (Tony), Becki Garrison (Cory), and Jacob Pryor, nieces, nephew, great-grandchildren, and many who loved her.

SERVICES:  FUNERAL SERVICES HAVE BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER.  SERVICES WILL BE RESCHEDULED FOR A LATER DATE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to World Challenge, www.worldchallenge.org.
