  1. The carefully hand-printed notes Donna mailed to Alaska when she was a little girl, written in pencil and addressed to “Aunt Jean” were a treasure. Donna was loving, artistic, creative, bright, so full of energy always, so loyal and so completely and entirely herself all her life. She was a strong, original person always. She knew herself, and was herself, always, from childhood on.

Recent years of challenging illness brought out those character traits again and again, making her a favorite patient of her roommates and nurses and her longtime previous doctor.

Donna was brave and memorable, a lover of small pets, like miniature rabbits in recent years. a huge fan of rock’n roll music and rock concerts. a flower gardener when she was well enough, and a loyal supporter of those she loved.

Donna was beloved in our family. On a visit to St. Louis in 2017, she made every day interesting, practical and fun for us. She even insisted that I take her suitcase to carry treasures home.

Donna, I’m so proud to be your Aunt Jean. It was a great honor. I love you.
Your far-flung family members in Alaska and New Mexico all love you too. and we treasure you You’ll be long remembered and always missed.

We send condolences and love to all the family. Wish we could be there.

From Aunt Jean Anderson in Fairbanks, Alaska.

  2. Donna had a good heart. I’ll not forget when she bought for my father, whom Wayne and I were caring for at that time, one of those little evergreens in a pot that was decorated for Christmas.
So sweet, I thought. A heart felt act of kindness and love.

  3. It was such a pleasure caring for Donna for the last 1.5 years. She did have a way of making me smile. I know she had a heart of gold.
