Catherine Theresa Rapp (nee Rich)
January 8, 2025 | Age 88
Catherine “Cathy” “Kay” Theresa Rapp (nee Rich) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in St. Louis in 1936 to John and Clara Rich, Cathy was a proud graduate of St. Cecilia Catholic School, where she remained actively connected with her grade school classmates throughout her life.
On September 29, 1956, she married her beloved late husband, Gerard Joseph Rapp, in a Mary-themed wedding at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. They shared 60 wonderful years of marriage, raising a family and building a life filled with love and faith.
Cathy was the cherished daughter of the late John and Clara Rich, and the devoted wife of the late Gerard Rapp. She was the treasured mother of Debra (Mike) Sull, Steven (Lisa) Rapp, Gerard (Tina) Rapp, Kenneth (the late Barbra) Rapp, and Connie (Mark) Cooper. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Jessica (Iain), Sarah (Evan), Ted, Tonya (Brandon), Kenzie (Tylar), Katlyn, Lauren (Matt), Ashley, and Jenny, and a delighted great-grandmother to Jace and Rowan. Cathy was the dear sister of the late Johnny Rich (survived by Joyce) and was a beloved sister-in-law, godmother, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
Cathy had a magnetic presence that could light up any room, her warm smile and signature dimples leaving a lasting impression on all who met her. For over 41 years, she excelled as a top makeup artist for Estée Lauder at Macy’s (formerly Famous-Barr) in St. Louis, where she was known for her impeccable taste and ability to make others feel beautiful.
She was a gifted gift-giver who never missed a birthday and celebrated Christmas with thoughtful generosity, extending her love to everyone—including her cherished furry friends. Cathy was a passionate NASCAR and Kansas City Chiefs fan and was happiest when traveling or lounging poolside. She dedicated her time to volunteering at Mercy Hospital, Oakland House, and the National Kidney Foundation.
Her faith and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary were central to her life, offering her comfort and strength throughout her journey.
Services: Funeral from Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. Friday January 17 at 9:00 am. Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Visitation Thursday 4-8 pm.
“O Mary, by the merits thou hast gained, give the dead true life, obtain mercy for them, and be the way which leads to thy Son, Jesus, and to Eternal Rest. Amen.”
Cathy will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
My sympathies to the family as they navigate life without Cathy.
Thank you, Sharon.

Thank you, Joseph and thank you and your family for the beautiful flowers.
Debbie,
My sister and I remember fondly how your beautiful and kind mom did our makeup. She made me feel so special just before my airline interview 50(!) years ago. Sending my condolences and heartfelt sorrow for your loss.
Thank you for reminding me of that special moment, Ceil. And thank you for reaching out.
