Mary Louise Raumschuh, 81, was granted her angel wings on August 25, 2020, with her family by her side in Chesterfield, Missouri. Her kind, gentle heart brought so much joy to her family and friends.
Mary Lou was a leader ahead of her time. She forged a 63-year career for herself in retail, starting as a part-time salesperson at Boyds. She “moved up the retail ranks quickly” as she would say, serving in sales, buyer, human resources, credit, and operations management positions for Stix Baer and Fuller, Franklin Simon, and Famous Barr. She spent 31 years with Famous Barr, landing a position of Operations Manager to open the Chesterfield Famous Barr in 1983. Wearing jeans and a hard hat to work, she was the first female operations manager amongst all of the Famous Barr branches.
At the age of 81, Mary Lou had not yet retired, working in sales for J. Jill at West County Mall. She called herself “the matriarch of the team” at 81 years old and considered her work at J. Jill as a very important part “at this time of my life.”
Mary Lou loved her plants, swimming, daily walks in the park, and having lunch with her family & friends. She adored spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Wismann and her spouse, Doug Wismann; her daughter Lisa Thibodeau and her partner, John Malley; her four grand-children, Ryan Wilson, Amanda Wilson, Daniel Wismann and Lauren Wismann; and her niece and her husband, Elizabeth and Dr. Jim L’Esperance.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Clifford Raumschuh.
Life celebration services are being held at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Rd., St. Louis, MO 63123. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, from 4 – 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Kutis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are made in memory of Mary Louise Raumschuh to the Heart & Vascular Institute and mailed to St. Luke’s Hospital, Office of Development, 232 S. Woods Mill Rd., Chesterfield, MO 63017 or online at stlukes-stl.com or by calling (314) 576-2345.

My deepest sympathies to the entire family. I truly enjoyed working with Mary Lou at J.Jill! She loved to talk about her family and was so proud of everyone. Mary Lou was fun to be around because she was so positive and had a wonderful sense of humor. I stayed in touch with her after she retired and during our last conversation she even gave me suggestions on the right cell phone for my 87-year-old mother! I think of her often and I hope all of your special memories will help you during the difficult times ahead.
