In Loving Memory

Rehg, Harold

82 years of age, passed away peacefully at home in St. Louis on Sept. 28. Beloved husband of Mary Jo Rehg (nee Diekemper) for 57 years. Dear son of the late Harold H. and Bernice A. (nee Kilian) Rehg. Loving father of Lisa (Rob) Winterer, Jeff (Heather) Rehg, Kevin (Melanie) Rehg, Michelle (Greg) Williamson; dear grandfather of Matthew Rehg, Alex Winterer, Bradley Rehg and Sam Winterer; dear brother of Gregory (Mary Jo) Rehg and sister Chris (Michael) Normile. Our dear uncle, brother-in-law, cousin and friend to many.

Born and raised in St. Louis, Harold graduated from McBride High School. After being called to active duty in the Army, he returned to Washington University in St. Louis and graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science. He was a valued employee of Brown Shoe Co. for 39 years. He was an active member in his parish of many years, Our Lady of Providence, serving as Eucharistic Minister, coach and school board member. As a Friendly Visitor, he brought the Holy Eucharist to homebound parishioners, visited with them and helped with other errands.

He was proud of his children and all their accomplishments, especially when they graduated from college. He valued education. He loved sports, especially <[fb]>tennis<[f%]>, music, gardening and fine dining. He enjoyed cooking, particularly barbequing, trying new recipes, and was famous for his “Sonny’s Smoked Salmon”. Many people requested his salmon for their special events.

He touched many lives during his 82 years on this earth, and now he is enjoying the benefits of eternal life. He will be greatly missed, but we can all take comfort in knowing that he was welcomed into the arms of God. He wanted his epitaph to be “I tried my best”.

Private services will be followed by interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Masses would be appreciated, or donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Missouri Chapter, 16100 Chesterfield Parkway W., Suite 125, Chesterfield MO 63017.

  2. I sure enjoyed Harold’s presence and conversation at family reunions through the years! I remember him at the barbeque grill having a great time! His kindness will be missed. Hugs are sent to you, Mary Jo, from your cousin Sherry Exler and your Aunt Carol Ritter. We wish the whole family peace and comfort.
