Dorothy “Dot” Elsie (Savage) Riebau, age 83, of Eureka, Missouri, died on June 30, 2025.
Dorothy was born on July 16, 1941, in Friendsville, Maryland, to Leslie and Elsie (Margroff) Savage. She grew up on her family’s farm, just outside Friendsville. After graduating from Northern Garrett High, she interned with the Maryland State Legislature in Annapolis and at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.. She then trained as a medical secretary at Hagerstown Business College, and moved to live with her sister in Chicago, where she worked for a local doctor. During that time she met her husband, Robert “Bob” Riebau.
Dorothy worked at Rockwell International in Seal Beach, California, during the Apollo program. Dorothy held secretarial positions at various doctor’s offices in both Colorado and Maryland before finally working in the pathology department at Baltimore Washington Medical Center until her retirement. After Bob’s passing, Dorothy relocated with her son’s family to Eureka, Missouri, where she remained until she was called home to the Lord. She delighted in doting on her grandchildren. Her legacy is one of faith, kindness, and perseverance.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Riebau; her parents, Leslie and Elsie Savage; three half-brothers, Roy, Robert, and Ernest; two brothers, Harry and Eugene; and two sisters, Mary and Carolyn.
Dorothy is survived by her son, The Rev. Robert Riebau, and his wife; and her ten grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Linda; her brother-in-law, Earl; and many beloved nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Church of the Reformation—Lutheran in Affton, Missouri, with The Rev. Tyler Arnold officiating. Dorothy will be laid to rest beside her husband at Blooming Rose Cemetery in Garrett County, Maryland on Saturday, July 26 at 10:00 a.m.
