Russell L. Riney, age 66 of Fenton, MO died peacefully on March 2, 2024, at Evelyn’s House hospice center. Russell is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rebecca Riney (nee Rodery), daughter Rachel Froehlich (Kevin), son Logan Riney and granddaughters Kara and Kaylin Froehlich. He is also survived by his sisters Jackie Campbell (Neil), Lori Allen (Dan), Julie Hovis (Paul), many nephews, nieces and other family members. He is preceded in death by his father Roy L. Riney Sr., mother Lillian (nee Lane), brothers Roy L. Riney Jr. (Barb), Roger Riney (Dolores) and sister Leisa Darr (David).
He was deeply devoted to his family, especially his granddaughters. He found joy in spending time with his family, and was the “fun Uncle” to his many nephews and nieces. Russ was an avid reader and always had a book or two close by. He also found great enjoyment gaming with his friends. As a history enthusiast, he was well-known for interrupting a movie or series on TV to enlighten anyone else in the room if the planes, guns, tanks, etc. were not accurate to the time frame of the program.
Russell proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and will be buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in honor of his service.
The staff and doctors at Evelyn’s House provided Russell with excellent care after battling pancreatic cancer for the past 9 months, and were integral to his peaceful passing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of Russell Riney to Evelyn’s House, in care of The BJC Foundation for Hospice, P.O. Box 790369, St. Louis, MO 63179-9917 or at BJCHospice.org
