Daniel B. Rooney
March 7, 1960 – October 1, 2025

Daniel “Dan” B. Rooney, 65, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on October 1, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on March 7, 1960, in St. Louis, Dan lived a life defined by service, laughter, and love for his family. After proudly serving in the United States Navy for 11 years, where he earned an honorable discharge, Dan continued his life of dedication and hard work with a 17-year career at General Mills. Following his retirement, he moved back home to St. Louis to enjoy his well-earned retirement and be closer to his family and friends.

A die-hard St. Louis Cardinals and Blues fan, Dan’s passion for sports was matched only by his love for the people around him. He could often be found smiling, cracking a joke, or cheering on his favorite teams — always bringing warmth and laughter wherever he went.

Dan was the beloved son of Harry Rooney and Helen (Dyer) Rooney, and the devoted father of Nikholas, Austin, and Kaitlyn Rooney. He was one of eleven siblings and shared countless memories with each: Maureen Olive, John Rooney, Kathleen (Kathy) Fults, Kevin Rooney, Mary Lapusan, Susan Bradley, Donna Garger, Kelly Anderson, Timothy Rooney, and Margaret (Peggy) Rooney. He was also a devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews, a beloved and devoted brother-in-law, and a cherished cousin to many, all of whom he cared for deeply and who brought him great joy.

Dan was a celebrated father, loyal friend, and a man with a heart as big as his hometown. His laid-back spirit, kindness, and willingness to help anyone in need touched all who knew him. Returning home to St. Louis brought him immense joy — a place where he was happiest, surrounded by family, laughter, and the comfort of familiarity.

Dan will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his humor, his heart, and his unwavering love for those lucky enough to know him.

A celebration of life, military honors, and burial will be announced by the family at a later date.

A Service of Kutis Funeral Home, City Chapel.

Condolences

  1. Dan and me were best friends for over 55+ years!! We talked about it alot, how we missed all the street, Marcus Lutheran playground, and Holy Name gym hockey. As well as street football, wall ball, riding bikes, and simply hanging out.
Dan was so proud of his time in the Navy!! We would sit around for hours and on road trips, swapping sea stories about our time in the military, the place we were stationed at, and the countries we had visited.
After my wife passed away, Dan became my “go to” guy…. We went on road trips to Lambeau Field to see the Packers play, we went to Tallahassee to see the Seminoles play, we went to Chicago to see KISS perform, and many baseball, football, soccer, and hockey games. As well as numerous concerts 🎶🎶🎶🎶
To my brother from another mother, Rest in Peace!! I will miss you greatly….
