We are heartbroken to share that James Roseberry, 57, passed away on July 26, 2026.
James was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Roseberry, and his sister, Ann Bradley. He is survived by his wife, Lara Thiel; his mother, Marilyn Roseberry; and his sister, Lynn Kezar. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Emmeline Roseberry, his son, Griffin “Fin” Roseberry, and bonus child, Carmen Thiel-Morency. He also leaves behind his niece and nephews, Meghan Bradley, Hunter Bradley, and Cash Kezar — and countless others who knew him as a nephew, cousin, brother-in-law, colleague, and friend.
James was, simply, one of the good ones. Kind. Patient. Generous. He lived with integrity, and he never stopped being curious about the world around him — always asking, always learning, always wanting to understand things more deeply.
For the past 25 years, James was an integral part of Trivers, serving as director of sustainability, associate and senior project manager. His influence can be seen throughout the St. Louis region in projects that preserved historic buildings, expanded affordable housing and advanced sustainable design, including The Victor, 900 N. Tucker, The Laurel and Clinton-Peabody Affordable Housing.
James generously shared his expertise through conference presentations and industry leadership roles both locally and on the national stage, including The American Institute of Architects, National Trust for Historic Preservation, Association for Preservation Technology International, and the U.S. Green Building Council where he served as Chair for the USGBC Missouri Gateway Chapter in 2024.
His passion for building healthier communities extended beyond architecture. James was an avid advocate for cycling and pedestrian initiatives, and many have enduring memories of racing beside him as a member of the Gateway Cycling Club as well as inspiring countless riders during a decade as a spin instructor at the Downtown YMCA.
Services: A Memorial Service for James will be held on August 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Kutis Funeral Home, City Chapel, 2906 Gravois Ave., 63118. Visitation on Saturday August 15, 2026 from 1-3pm.

I have many fond childhood memories of James. Ì am hurting for all of you and am so sorry for those tremendous loss.
This was one of the most wonderful, nice, caring, kind, beautiful, loving men that I have ever had the pleasure to know. He is a friend of another of the most wonderful guys I know and had the pleasure and privilege to ‘hang out’ with. I want to go back and spend even more time with him and all the other guys. I would try to say that the world needs him more than ever, but he worked so hard to ensure that in the future, it would be a wonderful place for his children, and someday his grandchildren. I still cannot believe this, I am still in the denial phase, I don’t get it, I don’t understand it, and my logical and rational ways of thinking are not promising to help me make sense of it anytime soon, or in the far future. Goodbye, James, you are a really great guy (you are not absent unless I stop talking about you and thinking of you), I miss you very much.
