Roth, Doris J. (nee Sims)

January 31, 1932 - August 6, 2024

Doris Roth (nee Sims), 92, of Saint Louis, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, August 6th at Avalon Memory Care Nursing Home. She was born on January 31st, 1932 in Christopher Illinois to Rolla and Lillie Sims.

She is survived by her two kids, Michael and Debbie Roth. Her sister, Sue Thompson of Carmi, Illinois and her sister’s kids, Brian and Robert Thomason, plus many Grand Children and Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her cousins Dacia Rzchowski and Mark Rzchowski.

Many of Doris’s closest friends and relatives refered to her as Dot. Back in 1951 after graduating high school, Doris moved from Christopher Illinois to Saint Louis along with a few other girls who shared an apartment together.

In Saint Louis, at age 19, Doris was hired by the American Automobile Insurance Company as a typist. After achieveing the role of supervisor she left American Automobile Insurance after 6 years soley for the reason that the company merged with American Insurance of Newark, New jersy. She was given an outstanding letter of recommendation from American Auto that said, ” We feel confident that any company employing Miss Sims will not regret doing so”. Doris was then hired by a local truck line. She stopped working soon after getting married to Thomas Roth in 1967 and devoted all of her time to raising her family. Doris always did an excellent job keeping the house spic and span. The house was always spotless and dust free. She also provided good home cooked meals everyday.

Doris’s favorite hobby was bowling. She and Thomas were on a bowling league at Du Bowl Lanes for several decades. She continued bowling in the league for 14 years after Thomas’s death. She was able to bowl in the league until 2019 and only stopped driving in 2021.

Doris was an excellent mother and wife and friend to many. She will be missed greatly and never forgotten.

Services: Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11th at Kutis South County Chapel (5255 Lemay Ferry Rd, Saint Louis, MO 63129) from 11am until 1pm. Funeral Services will be held at Kutis South County Chapel on Monday, August 12th at 11am. Interment to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery.
