Beloved Grandpa of Joseph (Justine) Kingsbury, Jillian Kingsbury, Richard W. Ruddle, Jennifer Housewright, William Housewright, and Matthew Housewright. Most beloved Great Grandpa of Grayson Michael Kingsbury, Evelyn Kelly Kingsbury, Ella Parker Kingsbury, and Danica Carol Ruddle. Beloved brother of Vicki (Art) Gross of St. Louis, uncle, great uncle, and a friend to many.
Richard married the love of his life, Carol (Stansbury) Ruddle on December 22, 1956 in St. Louis, MO. She preceded him in death in October, 1999. He later married LaRayna (Clapper) Ruddle, who also preceded him in death in August, 2020.
Richard had an accomplished career as a law enforcement officer, university instructor, and a hospital security administrator. He was passionate about education and his work; his undeniable work ethic was an ongoing inspiration to his family. He served in the US Navy from 1956-1959, where he developed a love and great skill for photography that remained with him throughout his life. He especially liked outdoor/nature settings, and was able to capture the most subtle details to create beautiful and timeless works of art.
Richard loved his family, his friends, and his home. He preferred the simple life; a daytime road trip, a great cup of coffee, a meal with the family, a big bowl of ice cream, and endless old Western movies. He had an understated but well-developed sense of humor, a big, hearty laugh, and a way of making feel people feel comfortable, welcome, and “at home”. He was truly special…a one-of-a-kind man who will be forever remembered, forever loved, and greatly missed.
