Beloved husband of Jennifer Ruggeri (nee Schaefer); loving father of Dominic Angelo, Allison Grace, Madison Anne and Elise Christine Ruggeri; adoring son of the late Angelo and Rosalie Ruggeri; cherished brother of Dennis (Maribeth) Ruggeri and the late Barbara and Michael Ruggeri; dear son-in-law of Stephen and Kathy Schaefer; dear brother-in-law of Karen (Kirby) Morris and Michael Schaefer; dear uncle of Rachel, Michael, Benjamin and Adeline. Our dearest cousin and friend to many.
Christopher John Ruggeri, of the Hill, in St. Louis, MO was born to first generation Italian-Americans, Angelo and Rosalie Ruggeri (Bommarito), on April 30th, 1976. He was baptized into the Catholic faith at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Church and attended St. Al’s grade school, Kindergarten through 8th grade. He was married for 26 years to his High School sweetheart, Jennifer (Schaefer), whom he met and graduated with, from Bishop DuBourg High School.
Together, they had four beautiful children, Dominic Angelo, 24, Allison Grace, 22, Madison Anne, 19 and Elise Christine, 15. They put them all through Catholic grade school. They all graduated from St. Ambrose Catholic School on the Hill in St. Louis. He and Jenn made Catholic High school a priority for all 4 children.
He went on to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Dennis, and became an IBEW Local 1 Union electrician through which he served as a Journeyman Wireman for 25 years before retiring this year.
He enjoyed volunteering his time at St. Ambrose Catholic Church functions with the men’s club. and was a member of the Italia-America Bocce Club where he loved to play bocce with his friends and teammates, the Shockers. He loved and cherished all of his friends that he made throughout his life, from his grade school friends, high school friends, union buddies to all of the friends he made from church. He loved to support the Catholic school functions and was always on the sidelines at all of the CYC, and high school sporting events for his kids. And anytime there was a school picnic, he could be found surrounded by friends, talking about the good old days in the beer garden.
He was the youngest of all of his first cousins and grew up surrounded by the love and support of an adoring Italian-American family rooted in the love of his Italian-American heritage. He had a great love for history and often shared historical facts with his family, reminding them of family traditions and never wanted to miss a family gathering with the extended family.
Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel 10151 Gravois Rd. 63123 on Wednesday, September 16 from 3-9 pm. then at St. Ambrose Catholic Church 5130 Wilson Avre. 63110 on Thursday, September 17 from 9:00 am. until Funeral Mass time at 10:00 am. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the IBEW Local One Relief fund or the Sick and Elderly of the Hill St. Louis.
