Sanfilippo, Marie Katherine

Marie Katherine Sanfilippo, 87, of St. Louis, Missouri, died November 25, 2024, at her home.  Ms. Sanfilippo worked in several professions, including secretary at International Shoe Company in downtown St. Louis and later in dietary at Shriner’s Hospital for Children in St. Louis and Bethesda Southgate nursing home.  She enjoyed babysitting for her many nieces and nephews and was known for her frugal and stubborn ways.  Marie graduated in 1955 from St. Mark’s Academy in North St. Louis and was a member of Assumption Catholic Church (Mattese).  Born on January 20, 1937, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Vincent P. (“Jimmy”) and Marie A. (nee Svetlik) Sanfilippo.

Marie is survived by her sister:  Carol A. Rockwell of St. Louis; her brother:  Vincent P. (Joyce) Sanfilippo of Washington, MO; her nieces and nephews:  Kenneth A. Rockwell of Philadelphia, PA, Karen M. Fischer of Barnhart, MO, Diane K. Rockwell of St. Louis, MO, Christina M. Sanfilippo of Ridgewood, NY, Patrick V. Sanfilippo of Arnold, MO, and Jonathan P. Sanfilippo of Arnold, MO; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

A graveside service was held for immediate family members on November 29, 2024, at Resurrection Cemetery in Affton, MO, and arrangements are under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home of South County, St. Louis.

  1. Aunt Marie… you were that person. Outside the box thinking. Not many people got you. I like to think I did. I always felt a special connection to you. I feel like I should have helped more, I will miss you. I will miss you!
