  7. Roger was a pleasure to work with and a tremendous partner and friend. I first met him on business travel at 2 AM in Ottawa. I was checking into the hotel and he was just getting back from a lengthy ice skate on the canals. My sincere condolences for your loss. He will be dearly missed.

  17. From the moment I met Roger, he ensured that we quickly found common ground. Although most of our interactions were on the phone, when we met in person, it was as if no time had passed between meetings. To Lynn and family and all of Roger’s friends, my deepest condolences.

  21. Dear Lynn- my name is Rick Gomez. I had the honor and privilege to meet and work with Roger on the Boeing/Embraer merger. We were leaders of a team that met frequently and traveled quite a bit to St. Louis, DC, Florida and many times to Brazil. We worked very hard and Roger was a great leader. I am very proud to say we became good friends. We spoke much about work, but over dinner and a beer we would talk of life. Roger would light up like a candle talking about you Lynn, your family, his faith, vacations and plans. We laughed and cried, visited churches in Brazil and made a pact to visit the giant Christ in Rio- only cause we had to extend business over a weekend. It was an adventure.
Every subsequent trip to St. Louis I would stop by B100 to see Roger or we would meet for lunch. He shared with Andy Garcia and I along the way his fight with cancer. He was always optimistic- again citing family, faith and now friends. He was blessed.
I am so sorry for your loss. I can truly tell you from my heart I loved Roger for the man he was and the the lasting memories that will keep our friendship alive. My heart, prayers and love are with you Lynn and your lovely family from Olivia and I.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do.
With the deepest of condolences. May Roger Rest In Peace.

  25. Dear Lynn and Family,

Thank you for sharing the live mass with Roger’s friends in Canada and abroad.

I met Roger for the first time 10 years ago, shortly after we returned from South Africa.

When Roger learned that we had two young daughters, he brought them Cardinals Caps and Blues sweaters. We would meet for early breakfast over the years talking about families–he had more and better experience than I; work issues, and the ethics of life. We shared humorous adventures from our respective travels.

During my 4 decades serving as a Canadian diplomat, one meets a range of people from the Queen to Nelson Mandela and all the people that make up a part of the world population
Roger stands alone as a best friend, honorable man and a true representative of the best that America has to offer the globe. He was so proud of you Lynn and your children.
    In sorrow but high respect

  27. Lynn, Roger’s friend Mike Murphy here. His Funeral Mass this morning was wonderful and moving and really captured “Roger”. I am glad that I was there. I am so sorry for your’s, Danie’s, Megan’s and David’s … and your entire extended family’s … loss of a wonderful human being. He always would tell me how incredibly proud he was of all of you. I will continue to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers as you work through losing Roger. I truly loved him. My life was so blessed with Roger having been in it. Also, should it be helpful, below is what I posted on Facebook (along with 2 pictures of him) about Roger and his funeral mass today. Take care! Mike Murphy. ———- “Tomorrow/Friday morning, I will be going to the funeral mass of one of my best/closest friends, Roger Schallom, who died on August 16 from Mantle Cell Lymphoma, leaving behind his wife of many years and 3 great grown kids. —- Roger and I worked together for about 15 years at our previous employer here, and we became very close, personally and professionally. He was one of the warmest, most unselfish, brightest, most loyal and most fun people I ever knew. When I was cleaning out my Mom’s condominium in Spring 2015, it was he and Johnny McAteer who unselfishly helped me on about 5 or so successive Saturdays gathering a LOT of my Mom’s stuff up, carrying it to the U-Haul truck and taking it all to Goodwill … with neither of them accepting money for gas or time. Roger even brought us all donuts! LOL. When I had to go to the Big Barnes ER about 7 years ago with a foot fracture, it was Roger who volunteered to get out of bed to meet me at the ER to keep me company and see if I needed anything. And I have many other such examples of him unselfishly being one of the best friends that anybody could ever have. He and I also spent quite a bit of time traveling together for work throughout Israel, to Ottawa Ontario Canada, to New York City at the Israeli Consulate General, and had lots of fun doing it! We also spent MANY afternoons with our friends at McGurk’s Irish Pub talking crap, solving the world’s and America’s problems, and just having fun. Being with/around him was just … fun. One could talk with him about anything! —- I think of him every day, miss him ferociously, and feel that my life was truly blessed with him it. It blows my mind that he is not with us anymore. I know I will not be able to avoid bawling tomorrow at his funeral mass. https://www.kutisfuneralhomes.com/schallom-roger-david/
