Schmid, Donald Joseph (Don), 83, died peacefully Christmas Day, 2023 in St. Louis surrounded by family. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Nancy (nee Elchinger); their four children: Kelly (Michael) Hollander, Mike (Olivia), Tom (Moe), and Greg (Midori); his sister Barbara (Roger) Hastey; and 10 grandchildren.
Born to Herman and Marie (nee Senn), he attended school at Resurrection, StL Prep Seminary & St. Mary’s and earned degrees in Engineering from SLU. After the Air Force he spent most of his career with McDonnell Douglas before starting his retirement “job” as an usher with the StL Cardinals.
Funeral is Sat, Dec. 30, with visitation at 10am, mass at 11 and a reception to follow, at St. Simon’s Church (11011 Mueller Rd.). He’ll later be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please direct gifts to St. Simon SVDP.
