In Loving Memory

Schmidt, Michael “Mike” G.

Michael “Mike” G. Schmidt, age 58, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024 in St. Louis, Missouri, after a long courageous battle with Triple Hit Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma.

Beloved husband of Gretchen Schmidt (nee: Rhodes) for 28 years; loving father of Eric  Schmidt, Adam Schmidt and the late Madeline Schmidt; dearest son of Mike and Rita Schmidt and son-in-law of the late Sandra Rhodes; dearest brother of Michelle Schmidt and Maryanne (Frank) Homa and the late Joseph Schmidt; brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.

Mike was a 1984 graduate of St. Mary’s High School and received his Associates Degree from St. Louis Community College.  He worked for the Dave Mungenast Automotive Family for 35 years finishing his career as the Parts Manager at Lexus of St. Louis.

Mike had a passion for anything with wheels.  In his youth, he raced motorcycles and was a member of the Missouri Mudders.  In later years, he spent time bicycling and enjoyed restoring old Jeeps.  Mike also liked to spend time with his family especially at the family farm.  He had a kind soul, a wonderful sense of humor and will be dearly missed.

Services:  Friday, January 26, 2024 at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church, 4900 Ringer Road St. Louis, MO 63129.  Memorial Visitation at 10:00 am until Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.  Inurnment at Resurrection Cemetery.                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Celebration of Life: 4:00-7:00 pm, Friday, January 26, 2024 at Sunset 44 Bistro and Banquet, 118 W. Adams Ave., Kirkwood MO 63122.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to St. Mary’s High School.

  1. Just received the news of Mikes passing… so very sorry to learn and heartfelt condolences go out to his loving family and friends. It has been many years since I have seen Mike. I lived up the street off of Starlit Drive and grew up in the same neighborhood. Same age. Always remember Mike being such a nice person and always on his bike. On behalf of the Kiefer family, many prayers during this difficult time and so very sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Karen Kiefer Handy.
