Schmitt, Jerome H. “Jerry”

 Jerome H. “Jerry” Schmitt 79, of Arnold, MO passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loving family on June 21, 2024.

Jerry was born in East Saint Louis, in 1944 to Jerome and Katherine Schmitt (nee Woodruff) who proceeded him in death.

Beloved husband of Carole R. Schmitt (nee Funk). Loving father of Suzanne (James) Volansky, Kristine Schmitt, Jerome (Erica) Schmitt and Anthony (Kristen) Schmitt. 

Dear brother of the late Caroline Vogt (nee Schmitt). 

Adored and loved Grandpa “Papa” to Benjamin, Elise, Alexander, Samuel, Haley and Patrick.

Jerry served 7 years in the Army Reserves, before becoming a Tool and Die maker /machinist like his father. This would take him to many places but ultimately ending up at Metal Container Corporation for 31 years. He was a proud union man throughout his career.

Jerry will be missed by all who knew him for his infectious smile, sense of humor and his deep and undeniable love for his family. 

Funeral arrangements will be :

Visitation Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 4pm-8pm Kutis South County Chapel (5255 Lemay Ferry Road)

Funeral mass Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 9:00am at Saint David’s Catholic Church in Arnold, MO.

Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

  1. What a Great Man this Gentleman was. And that is exactly what he was., a gentle , respectful person. He lived life to make others happy . A very devoted husband and father. He so much loved his family . I will miss his smile .

  3. Always enjoyed being around Jerry at the grandkids events. He was such a happy person. He will be missed by many. Alex will have to find another business partner.
