Schnitker, Robert William “Bob”

August 7, 1937 - May 29, 2023

Our dear Father Robert William (Bob) Schnitker passed away peacefully on May 29, 2023 at the age of 85. Bob was born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 7, 1937 to parents Oliver and Alberta Schnitker. He was the oldest of four children. Bob attended the University of Missouri, Columbia where he met the love of his life, Mary Jane. While at Mizzou, Bob enjoyed being an active member of the Lambda Chi fraternity. Bob and Mary Jane were married on June 16, 1962. Together they welcomed three girls into the world. He lived his life cherishing time with family and was a very devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather. Bob and Mary Jane loved entertaining and treasured time with their many dear friends. Bob was very outgoing and never met a stranger. He was an extremely generous man and also loved sharing his time with various organizations. Bob enjoyed gardening, The Muny, Cardinals baseball and traveling with Mary Jane. He loved grilling and was known for his gin and tonics. Bob was a great patriot who loved our country. Patriotic music could be heard at any family barbeque.

 

Bob is survived by his loving daughters Debbie (Jim) Moss, Julie (Tom) Gallagher and Jennifer (Ron) Mitchell; six grandchildren – Katie (Tom) Freeman, James Louis III (Kaylyn) Moss, Ethan Gallagher, Shane Gallagher, Charlie Pettigrew and Claire (Cameron) Murray; two precious great-grandchildren – Vivienne Freeman and James Louis Moss IV, and brother William “Bill” Schnitker. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Jane, parents Alberta and Oliver, sister Daryl and brother Martin.

 

Visitation will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church (9 South Bompart, Webster Groves, Missouri 63119) Tuesday, June 20th, at 3:00pm with service beginning at 4:00pm.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

  1. Always remember Uncle Bob in the fondest way, good food and fun and lots of laughter too! He loved fiercely and go St. Louis Cardinals.
