Jon Roland Schuessler, age 48 (born April 20, 1976,) was called home to Heaven on October 30, 2024. Jon courageously fought Stage 4 cancer for two years before joining our Heavenly Father in glory.
Jon was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, teacher, mentor, and friend. He is survived by his mother, Fern Schuessler (nee Pflantz); sisters, Cheri Schauffler (Raymond) and Amanda Stegeman; nephew, Eaen Stegeman; niece, Elsa Stegeman; uncle, Warren Pflantz; aunt, Jan Schuessler; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Schuessler; brother-in-law, Joshua Stegeman; grandparents, Roland and Hilda Pflantz (nee Flamm), Vincent Christ, and Oscar and Bernice Schuessler (nee Zaiger); uncles, David and Oscar Schuessler, and his aunt, Janet Schuessler.
He had a passion for theater, music, art, storytelling, reading, history, debate, education, the pursuit of truth, and political reform. He brought laughter to every conversation, joy into every room, and he had an amazing ability to put everyone instantly at ease. He was a fierce friend, and once you were given a place in his heart, you were there for life.

Hey, Bro!
Words cannot express how much I miss you. 💔
I shared more laughter with you than most people share in a lifetime of relationships. You were my best friend. I loved the way we could always brighten each other’s day and lift each other up. Just hearing your voice or thinking of you brought a smile to my face. Your creativity continues to amaze and inspire me! 🎨🎭🎵✍️
During our childhood, you were solace and joy in an unpredictable and often cruel world. In adulthood, every conversation with you brought new insight, thoughtful perspectives, and new information. You never gave up and you never lost hope, even when the weight of this world was heavy. You were incredibly tender-hearted, and prioritized people and relationships above anything else on this earth. I don’t know anyone who can elicit belly laughs the way you could—even from strangers! You were always learning and always growing. You were stronger than you know, and I know our Heavenly Father is proud of you.💗
You cared deeply for my children and brought SO MUCH JOY into their lives! You provided safety, comfort, and FUN in countless ways. They cherished every moment with you, and they can’t wait to see you again in Heaven! 🥳
Thank you for the laughs, the vulnerability, the friendship, the love, the brilliance, the joy, and the endless supply of wonderful memories. I love you, Bro!
😢 miss you Amanda. Let the memories of your brother be imprinted into your heart. Sometimes that’s all that keeps us going.
Love you
Joyce
My dear “cuz” Jon will be missed so much. My heart hurts cause he’s gone and i wont get to see that radiant smile again but I know his suffering is over & he is with family. He was the last male on the Schuessler side. Prayers of strength for my aunt Fern.
Love you
Joyce Bloodworth (Schuessler)
