John Schulz

In Loving Memory

Schulz, John A.

June 24, 1947 - September 16, 2024

John A. Schulz passed away peacefully on Monday, September 16, surrounded with family and love.

Born in St. Louis and raised in Valley Park, John graduated from Affton High School after spending his first three years at Chaminade. He went to Southeast Missouri State University and studied music theory. After 2 years, he was drafted to the Army and served 3 years during the Vietnam War. Despite being in helicopters that were shot down three times, he returned home to St. Louis and worked as a pharmaceutical chemist. He later pursued a career in education, teaching students at O’Fallon Tech/Gateway High School in St. Louis City. Throughout his lifetime, John continued to enhance his education through Fontbonne University, obtaining a Bachelors degree and eventually accruing enough credits for a masters.

John also explored his spiritual side, becoming a certified crystal healer and ordained minister. He was reiki attuned, and he and his daughter mined together for opals, quartz crystals, herkimer diamonds, and sunstones.

John loved animals and delighted everyone with interesting stories about stubborn pets, family orchards, playing bass with an orchestra touring Europe, and other highlights from his musical career. He loved music, and played the bass, harmonica, trumpet, and even gave recorder recitals to his children. John loved to learn and mastered many unique hobbies; he shared his extensive knowledge with everyone he spoke to.

He is remembered by his wife Jane Schulz, daughter Katie Schulz, son John Schulz, and many close friends and loved ones who will miss his laughter, stories, incredible knowledge, and his legendary white beard.

Services: Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON Chapel 10151 Gravois Saturday September 21, 12 Noon until service at 2: 00 PM
