In Loving Memory

Schutz, Ronald Michael

Ronald Michael Schutz, 91, of Robertsville, Missouri passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at his residence.

Ronald was born on June 5, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Luffy) Schutz.  He was preceded in death by his brother Frank Schutz and sons Albert Schutz and Michael Schutz.  His survivors include his sister Arline Klein and daughter Angela Schutz.

Ronald studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Missouri Columbia.  He then left college to serve in the Army.  After his military service he joined McDonnell Aircraft and worked in Florida on the Mercury and Gemini space programs.  He returned to Missouri and continued to work in the aerospace industry.  His career enabled him to work on aircraft avionics, training systems, and flight simulation systems and he worked with many commercial airlines all over the world.  He had very fond memories of his career experiences, travels, and especially the friends he made.  He often said he wished he had never retired.

In retirement Ronald continued to travel and enjoyed several hobbies including photography and tinkering with audio and video systems.  He loved opera, classical music, and organ music and enjoyed live performances of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and the Opera Theater of St. Louis.  At home he enjoyed outdoor projects including tending to his lawn, garden, and nature area.  His dog was always his constant companion.  Staying connected to family, neighbors, and friends was very important to him.  He looked forward to attending family events and planning the next opportunity to visit with friends.

A Celebration of Life event is being planned with information to be provided at a future date.

  1. We have very found memories of Uncle Ron over the years. We will miss his frequent check ins by phone, coming in after hunting to hot chocolate around his kitchen table, looking through his trail cam pics at his latest footage, and of course his homemade cobblers and port.
We also have many found memories of him and mom (Arline) visiting together. The tractor pull to see his wild flower garden, with him pulling mom in wagon off back, will forever be one of our favorites!
Rest in Peace Dear Uncle. Hope to meet up with you in the good place.
    Love,
    Diane and Tim

  2. Ron was a dear friend and co-worker for many years with whom my wife, Bea, and I spent many traveling vacations. We always enjoyed accompanying him, daughter Angela, and friend Evelyn to various venues around the St. Louis area and the Western United States. We were honored to become “honorary cousins” at several cousin get togethers as far west as Prescott, Arizona. A wonderful raconteur, it was always fun to relive our experiences together. He will be sorely missed. Adios nuestro amigo.
