Gene Schwartz, beloved husband of Lorraine (Bourisaw Whiteley) Schwartz, father of Mark (Becky), Stephen (Sara), Eric and Brad (Jane), stepfather of Tracy (Tim) Rebholz and Jeremy (Courtney) Whiteley, and loving grandfather (Gpa) of Emma, Ethan, Evan and Elliott Rebholz; Dekin Whiteley; Aubrey, Landon, Wyatt, Arya, Kinsley, Elana, Leah (late), Louisa, Edyn and Oliver Schwartz. Dear son-in-law of Rose Mary Bourisaw (late Glenn), dear brother-in-law of Dave (Laurie) Bourisaw and Robert (late) Bourisaw. Dear uncle to Timothy (late) Bourisaw, Matthew Bourisaw (Tina Gaspar), Kimberly (Geoff) Mueller; dear cousin to Rick (Sandy) Frazier and great-uncle to Louis and Abbi Bourisaw, Kaitlyn and Christopher Mueller.
Gene battled Lewy Body Dementia for over six years with grace and dignity. His spirits were always lifted when family showed their kindness and love with visits and phone calls or texts. Those that loved him were always there for him. Gene’s strong Christian faith never wavered during his battle.
Gene had a kind soul that touched those that he knew. His love for Lorraine was never-ending. Gene was so happy to have Lorraine’s family become his own…and they never stopped showing him that he was a part of their family. His grandchildren were the joy of his life and he loved to spend time with them. The hardest part of Gene’s illness was knowing that he would not be here on earth to watch them grow up, though we know that Gene will be watching over them from heaven.

I was there when Pam met Gene at only 19 years old, and I witnessed the beginning of their love story. They shared 25 years of marriage and built a life and family together. Gene and Pam both stood beside me at my wedding, and they went on to raise four amazing sons—handsome, humorous, accomplished and well-educated men who are a lasting testament to the life they created together.
I will always remember Gene surprising Pam with a beautiful Arabian horse when they moved to their dream home in Wildwood. It was such an exciting and happy time in their lives.
Gene was an important part of so many memories spanning more than five decades. My heart is with Pam, their sons, his grandchildren and everyone who loved him. He will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.

If we could have handpicked a partner for Lorraine, a step father for Tracy and Jeremy, a GPA for all those 14 lucky children or an uncle to our children and grandchildren, it would have been Gene. Thanks for all the wonderful memories.

We have been neighbors with Gene and Lorraine since we both moved into our new homes we had built! We moved in within a month of each other! It has been 19 years and we could not have had better neighbors! We watched out for each other and they were the best! Gene was such a gentle soul and Lorraine took very good care of him! We would often talk over the fence, most times about our noisy dogs! Lorraine was the best when we had a medical emergency with my MIL while we were out of town. I will never forget that! RIP Gene we will miss you❤️
Gene is a dear friend, brother, comedian, and brave/courageous man. The first time that we met, we knew that he was an amazing person who loved Lorraine. His kindness was extraordinary. He loved life and was a true example of making everyone he touched feel blessed. God only takes the BEST and Gene is the BEST.

Gene worked dutifully for our Company in the Beverage Buiding Department for several years. He was a great manager and emissary for the projects he ran nationwide. He brought great skill sets along with no shortage of humor to clients, subcontractors and fellow employees alike. I have thought of him often and offer my condolences to his family and friends but am also happy to know he’s out of pain and suffering. God bless and keep you, Gene!
