Scott, Elda Marie

Born July 14, 1930 in Japan, Missouri. Died November 8, 2019 at Mercy Hospital South. Preceded in death by husband, Grady Scott; son, Gary Unger; grandson Richard Unger III She worked for Emerson Electric as an inspector in their valve department. She was the youngest daughter of John Smith and Rosa Cooper Smith with 3 brothers and 5 sisters, all of whom died before her. Mother of Richard Unger, Karen Karcher, Gary Unger. Grandmother to Michelle Kimberlin, Sona Heppermann, Beth Teixeira, Alicia Hilecher, John Unger, Calvin Karcher (6) Great grandmother to Drake Kimberlin, Mason Kimberlin, Taylor Teixeira, Olivia Teixeira, Ayden Hilecher, Austin Hilecher,  Matthew Heppermann and Nathan Heppermann. (8) Elda grew up on a farm in Japan, Missouri.  She attended a one-room school.

When the grand kids were asked what they remembered most about their Grandma they all answered,”chicken and dumplings,” with “fried fish,” a close second.  She helped the kids collect rocks at the lake.  Elda was a great cook, always feeding her family and making sure they all went home with a “little something for later”.  Grady and Elda held legendary fish fries in the summertime from the fish they caught at Lake Sherwood. She was an avid gardener, loved hummingbirds and being outside.  She went deer hunting and fishing with her husband.  She played bingo with friends.  She was kind and generous.  She looked forward to her family’s reunion every July in Sullivan. She was a great mother, always there when they needed her.  She loved her grandchildren and her great grandchildren adored her.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois, Friday, November 15, 11:00 am.  Interment Shepherd Hills Cemetery

Visitation Thursday 3-8 pm
