Michael E. Shadden, of Aftton, Missouri was born on September 1, 1965, entered eternal rest on September 21, 2026, after a lifelong journey with a congenital heart defect.
He was a deeply loving father to Taylor McGuire, father-in-law to her husband, Steven and cherished grandfather to Mila McGuire. He also embraced Raegan Tyson with the love and devotion of a father and shared a treasured life and enduring love with his beloved partner, Jara Ives-Tyson.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Delbert and Kathleen Shadden,
whose memory remained close to his heart. His memory will be lovingly carried forward by his siblings, Irene Shadden, Kevin Shadden, former wife Sheila Shadden, and by family and friends who were touched by his presence.
Mike had a way of making everyone he met feel like a friend. With his kind heart, joyful spirit, and larger-than-life presence, he truly never met a stranger and seemed to collect friends wherever he went. He embraced life fully and brought warmth, laughter, and genuine connection to those around him.
Many will remember him from his time at Target on Hampton, and as a familiar face at House of Rock. Music was an important part of Mike’s life, and he was a beloved presence in the Saint Louis music community and was a friend to many local musicians. His unforgettable spirit and the friendships he created will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Mike’s life at the Affton Elks Club on October 24th, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., to share memories and honor the life of a man who meant so much to so many.
In honor of Mike’s lifelong journey with congenital heart disease, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Dorothy and Larry Dallas Heart Center at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital through the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation, whose dedicated care gave Mike more precious time with the people he loved.
