On Tuesday, August 12, 2025 beloved wife of the late Robert Schallenberg; loving mother of Lisa (Mark) Watkins; dear grandmother of Paige (Xander Broadbent) and Chase Watkins passed away peacefully.
Bonnie was happiest when her hands were busy creating. She was rarely seen without a craft project in hand—knitting scarves, creating handmade cards, pressing flowers for projects, or arranging seasonal wreaths for her door. Her handmade gifts were treasured by friends and family, each one carrying her signature touch of thoughtfulness and care. Bonnie also loved collecting treasures—each piece a memory, each memory a story she cherished sharing. During her stay at Delmar Gardens she was very active in not only attending activities, but also making recommendations and even starting some of her own crafting groups.
Of all her joys in life, nothing compared to the love she had for her two grandchildren, Paige, 22, and Chase, 14. They were the light of her life, and she took great pride in their accomplishments, cheering them on in everything they did. She loved spending time with them—whether it was baking, making playdoh, coloring, playing games like King’s Corner, outings to fun places around St. Louis, or just shopping! Her eyes sparkled whenever she spoke of them.
Those who knew Bonnie will remember her as someone who found happiness in simple pleasures in life. She was a devoted friend, a loving mother and grandmother, and wife. She is survived by family and friends who will miss her deeply but take comfort in knowing her love and creativity live on in the many things she made and the lives she touched.
