In Loving Memory

Shelton, Sheila Lynn

Sheila Lynn Shelton, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on September 22, 1949, in Olney, Illinois, Sheila was the daughter of the late Volney and Joan Burgess. She was also predeceased by her stepmother Lillian Burgess and brother, Randall Burgess.

Sheila is survived by her devoted husband, Russell Shelton, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and companionship. Together, they raised three children: Rodney, Kimberly, and Brenda, who were the light of her life. Sheila also leaves behind her half-sister, Christina, and step siblings, Charles, Gilbert and Barbara. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Joshua, Brandie, Samantha, Abigail, Ella, and Alexander.

Sheila’s life was defined by her dedication to her family and her community. A young mother, Sheila took great pride in earning her GED while raising her three children. She was an active volunteer in her children’s school activities, where she was affectionately known as a “Band Mom” by students and teachers alike. Her warmth and generosity extended to the school cafeteria, where she worked for several years, always greeting the children with a smile.

Beyond her family and volunteer work, Sheila found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was both an avid seamstress and excellent cook, known for her delicious meals that brought her loved ones together around the table. She also loved the beauty of nature, spending hours watching birds, feeding chipmunks and planting flowers in her garden.

Sheila will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her kindness, strength, and love for her family will forever be remembered. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Kutis Funeral Home (5255 Lemay Ferry Rd., St. Louis, MO 63129) from 4 pm-7 pm.
May she rest in peace
