Mark David Sheridan fell asleep on Dec. 18, 2025 and is awaiting the Return of his Living Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He was born on January 12, 1957 and grew up in Princeton, MO. He loved his 1975 classmates and always thought of them as family. He won Missouri State Pole Vault Champion for class 2a in 1975.
Mark’s greatest interest and love in life was to research God’s Word and to teach it in detail and with clarity. He made his teaching come alive by his outstanding knowledge of interesting details on words and culture. He exhibited his love for God in his study and service, and it was apparent while teaching his students.
While in Germany Mark established and operated a very successful language school. He was a scholar and gentlemen who appreciated the finer things in life.
Back in the USA, he enthusiastically taught German and Latin at St. Louis University, St. Louis Community College. Mark finished out his career teaching German and Latin at the Fox C6 School District for over 20 years. His students loved his skilled, engaging, fun, and approachable manner. As one observer noted :
“There are few people who keep a bible on their desk and who wear Christ throughout the building”. “He was a gentleman, who appreciated the finer things of life”.
Mark was an avid reader, loved art and music. He travelled extensively in Europe. He also loved to sing.
Mark also served his country with exceptional heroism, while assigned to the 4th Battalion, 18th Infantry during ground combat in Desert Storm. He was awarded the Army Commendation medal for Valor, Bronze Star.
Mark met his wife, Martina, while stationed in Germany.
He was a devoted husband to his wife, Martina, and will be greatly missed by those who truly knew him. He is survived by his brother Bob and his wife Georgine (Anagnos), Alexandra Barton, Whitney Courson, Stacey Sheridan.
