Mark David Sheridan fell asleep on December 18, 2025 and is awaiting the Return of his Living Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He was born on January 12, 1957 and grew up in Princeton Mo. He loved his 1975 classmates and always thought of them as family. He won Missouri State Pole Vault Champion for class 2a in 1975.
Mark’s greatest interest and love in life was to research God’s Word and to teach it in detail and with clarity. He made his teachings come alive through his outstanding knowledge of language and cultural detail. He exhibited his love for God in his study and service and it was apparent while teaching his students.
While in Germany, Mark established and operated a very successful language school.
Back in the USA, he enthusiastically taught German and Latin at St. Louis University and St. Louis Community College. He finished out his career teaching German and Latin at the Fox C6 School District for over 20 years. His students loved his skilled, engaging, fun and approachable manner. As a couple of observers noted:
“There are few people who keep a bible on their desk and who wear Christ throughout the building”
“He was a gentleman, who appreciated the finer things of life”
Mark was an avid reader who loved art, music and travelled extensively in Europe. He also loved to sing.
Mark also served his country with exceptional heroism while assigned to the 4th Battalion, 18th Infantry during ground combat Desert Storm. He was awarded the Army Commendation medal for Valor, Bronze Star.
Mark met his wife Martina while stationed in Germany.
He was a devoted husband to his wife Martina and will be greatly missed by those who truly knew him. He is survived by his brother Bob and his wife Georgine (Anagnos) and their children: Alexandra Barton, Whitney Courson and Stacey Sheridan.

Precious in the sight of God is the death of His saints!
I had the pleasure of being Mark’s colleague for over a decade. He enjoyed exchanging music and art and discussions about faith. He was a very kind and caring man who loved his family and students.
How great Martina to Know this world is temporary as we wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.Prayibg for you .xx
Mr Sheridan was my Latin teacher during my time in high school when the district was debating whether it was still useful for the students. Him and his classroom was my safe space in one of the hardest times in my life. His loss hurts deeply. I am sending my deepest condolences to his family and friends.
So sorry, Martina, to hear about Mark. I have many happy memories of you both staying in Mirfield one Christmas and New Year, and in more recent times, in Dublin.
Mark was a very kind and sensitive man.
It is a big comfort to know the reality of The Hope especially right now.
Mark and I were best of friends throughout most of our school years. There are so many stories that I wouldn’t know where to start.
Really enjoyed Mark and Martina at our recent reunion.
I had the honor and privilege to be a student of Mr.Sheridan for such a short amount of time in comparison to his long career, but there will never be any teacher or instructor I will remember nearly as much as him. Inspiring is an understatement to describe the impact Mr Sheridan had. The Lord received a great man, and I can only hope to uplift anyone the way Herr Sheridan had uplifted me. Romans 8:38-39 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
I was very lucky to have his class for two years. I always enjoyed his class, he always brought an amazing energy to my day. He always loved to sing, as much as I hated singing in public I would always find myself singing along with him. I loved walking by his room every day. I would see him in the mornings, I would feel odd without hearing “Guten Morgan” from him.
I hope he’s found heaven’s choir. I know he would fit in wonderfully.
I see the twinkling of his eyes and the warmest embrace of a smile of this wonderful and wonder filled man/Man of God. His gentle yet firm demeanor always was of inspiration especially when he taught the matchless greatness of God’s Word, and man could he teach it! God’s peace and healing to your heart Martina~ and to the family. You are his legacy so celebrate him often as you tell his story. He will be alive and well in each of our hearts. God keeps His promises, as he believed and onward. First Thessalonians 4: 3 – 18. See you there dearest Mark, see you there!
Very sorry for your loss, Martina, family and friends.
Our thoughts are with you.
Much love,
Declan and Sheila
Out of all my classes at school, none were as heartfelt as Herr Sheridans. He made each and every class feel alive. I’ve never met a teacher as passionate about teaching as Herr Sheridan was. But he wasn’t just an amazing teacher, he was an incredible man as well. Whenever I’d see him in the halls, or outside of school, he’d wear the warmest smile and say “Guten Abend Adam”, and I’d say it right back. Seeing him be that warm and kind was one of the highlights of my day. I will miss seeing his welcoming smile, and his friendly demeanor. Atleast we all have Hachi to remember him bye.
To Herr Sheridan, an amazing teacher and an even better man.
