Signorino, Bernardo “Leo” Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Monday June 22, 2026 at the age of 91. Leo was born in Sicily, Italy on March 22, 1935 to the late Maria and Pasquale Signorino. His family immigrated from Sicily to Saint Louis, MO in 1955 . Where Leo would met his beloved wife, Trudy Heller. They would wed in 1969 and have two sons, Matteo and Mario.
Leo was a cabinet maker by trade and when he came to Saint Louis he was able to find work as a carpenter. He would go on to join the Carpenters Union and was a member for sixty-nine years. He did most of his work for the Saint louis Public School System and the May Company.
Leo was a devoted member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, actively serving in the Holy Name Society and volunteering at the Lenten fish fries. Leo Enjoyed playing cards, sharing coffee with friends, watching sports and caring for his fig tree. You knew that Leo considered you family if he randomly showed up at your door with a hand full of figs from his tree. However, his greatest joy was the time he spent with family and friends, especially his two grandchildren Leo and Joanie.
Leo will be remembered as a loving husband to the late Trudy Signorino. Loving father of Matteo (Mia) and Mario (Jaime) Signorino. Dearest papa of Leo and Joanie Signorino. Our dear brother, brother-in-law-, uncle, cousin and friend to many. Leo will always be in my heart as a friend forever. We walked Francis park every morning at 5.00AM for over 2 years always saying good morning to each other. One morning he stopped me at the corner of Tamm and Nottingham and said , Hi., I’m Leo, what’s your name. I’m Jim O’Brien . And then we became friends forever. We started to go to Starbucks for coffee after walking. After a few years later we found out that my daughter Denise and Matteo went to St Gabriel’s and were in a special gifted class together. I can truly say Leo has a special place in place in my heart. He is truly a special man and will be missed by many. Especially ME.
Sorry for the loss of your father Capt, scripture tells us that “earth has no sorrow that heaven can’t heal”. May our father which art in heaven comfort you and your family, during this sad time. You and your family, have me and my family’s deepest condolences.

It is with a heavy heart that I share a few memories of my dear friend, Leo.
I met Leo about a decade ago when I was helping him by cleaning out his gutters and making minor repairs to the copper roof on the back of his house. What started as a business relationship quickly turned into a genuine friendship that I will always cherish.
After working at his house, Leo would often take me to Petro’s Restaurant nearby, where we’d sit, enjoy a meal, and spend hours talking. Even when we weren’t together, we’d catch up on the phone. Those conversations meant more to me than he probably ever knew.
Leo was one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met. He was honest, kind, and authentic. You always knew where you stood with him because he never pretended to be anything other than himself. That is a rare quality, and one that I deeply respected.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have known Leo, and even more fortunate to be able to call him my friend. His friendship was a gift, and the memories we shared will stay with me for the rest of my life.
Rest in peace, my friend. You will be missed, but you will never be forgotten.
So sorry to hear that Leo passed away. He was always a joy to talk to at Holy Name meetings at St. Gabriel. I knew I made his “good” list when he showed up at my door with a bag full of figs! He tried his best to teach me pinochle but I wasn’t a very good student. Will miss his unique personality!
