In Loving Memory

Simpson, Bobby Joyce (nee Beaton)

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Cousin, Aunt, Friend, Neighbor, and Caregiver.  On Thursday, February 6, 2020, we learned of the passing of our dear mother, Bobby Joyce Simpson, at the age of 83.  She is survived by two children, Jesse Neil Simpson and Tammy (Don) Sternberg; three Russell grandchildren, Rich, Andrea, and Jimmy; two Sternberg granddaughters, Stephanie and Jennifer; two sisters, Dortha Weatherford and Imogene Hall; cousins, nieces and nephews, neighbors, friends, and former co-workers.  She is predeceased by her parents, Burley and Pearl Beaton; brothers, James Wesley (J. W.) and Dewayne; and sisters, Linda and Joanne.

Bobby grew up on a farm in rural Arkansas, was raised in the Baptist Church, and gave her life to the Lord at an early age.  She moved to St. Louis after meeting her former husband, Jesse Simpson.  Bobby spent most of her young adult life as a homemaker in West St. Louis County, raising her two children.   Her family’s church home was Manchester Heights Baptist Church, which provided much of her social interaction at that time.  She always enjoyed attending church, singing, listening to music, sewing, watching movies, spending time with family, and celebrating special occasions and holidays.

In her 40’s, Bobby embarked on a new career and single life.  She completed a GED course, to receive her High School Diploma, and entered a Certified Nurse’s Assistant training program.  Public transportation became a way of life, as she never chose to pursue a driver’s license.  Bobby’s 30-year career as a CNA concluded with her retirement at age 78.  She was dedicated to her clients, and beloved as a caregiver over those many years.

Bobby’s health had begun to decline over the past several years, but she always found ways to show love for others.  We are at peace knowing she is no longer in pain and resting in her eternal home with Jesus.
