Marion C. Sims, 83, passed away Tuesday May 9, 2023; dear father and father-in-law of Gregory A. (Cindy) Sims, Michelle C. (Chuck) Griffieth, Justin T. (Melissa) Sims & Milinda L. (Henry) Hoffarth. Dear grandfather of Brooklyn, Daniel, Auston, Chelsea, Heather, CJ, Chris, Haley, Henry, Eli, Ian, Tyler, Grant and Max. Great-grandfather, of Tristen, Ashton, Isabella, Kyah, Addison, Charlie, Rylie, Jordy, Kaylee, Colbie, & Ryker and his significant other, Karen Adderton. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years Janice M. (Reichert) Sims; parents Marion and Zelemia Sims.
Marion was the son of Marion Lee and Zelemia Leona nee Caylor Sims, was born March 13, 1940, in Audrain County Missouri. In 1952 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Monroe County, Missouri, he was baptized by the Rev. Oscar Rush, and on November 1, 2009, at Peace Lutheran, St. Louis where he confirmed his faith. He grew up on a farm in rural Missouri. After graduating high school, he worked as a mechanic for various shops, shop manager, and service and branch manager for Wiese Planning and Engineering.
Marion was a good man who seldom knew a stranger. He loved family, loved life, and enjoyed traveling around the world. He stood for honesty, integrity, and hard work-which he instilled in his children. He had a passion for getting his hands dirty, be it in the yard, automobiles or fixing pretty much anything. Marion was involved in a billiard’s league, various car clubs through the years, and heavily involved in Republican party campaigns during his lifetime. Ultimately, Marion sought to live life to the fullest. During these last months battling cancer, he never gave up, he fought the good fight, and he finished the race strong.
