Terry Lynn Sims, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026 at the age of 83.
Born on New Year’s Day in 1943 in Fulton, Missouri, Terry was the son of the late Walter Ollie Sims and Jessie Ruth Peterson. He grew up in Fulton, where he graduated from Fulton High School before answering the call to serve his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, Terry pursued his education, earning a bachelor’s degree from Saint Louis University.
On May 8, 1966, Terry married Mildred “Anita” Sims. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in love and devotion, remaining happily married until Anita’s passing in 2019.
Terry’s greatest legacy is his family. He was a loving father and is survived by Lisa Matthews and her husband, John, of Columbia, Illinois, and Scott Sims and his wife, Robin, of Chicago, Illinois. He was the incredibly proud grandfather of five grandchildren: Joseph Matthews, Jacob Matthews, Fischer Sims, Saylor Sims, and Griffin Sims.
He is also survived by his sister, Lou Ann Terrell, and her husband, Tom, as well as his niece, Jennifer Laing. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anita, his parents, and his sister, Linda (Richard) Cloud .
Terry will be remembered for his independence, his dedication to his country, and the deep love he held for his family.
Services: Funeral at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, on Thursday, June 18th at 10:30am. Interment with honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Terry’s honor to Veterans For America.
