Gregory Gus Skinner, 75 years of age, passed away on Tuesday, December 5th peacefully in his home. He battled a rare brain disorder, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
Greg was born February 2, 1948, in Tuscola, Illinois to the late William and Helen Skinner. Although he only spent 18 years there, he made his mark and continued a journey which led him to play football at Northeast Missouri State University. He went on to teach in St. Louis, Missouri briefly before becoming a Police Officer for the City of St. Louis. After 25 years of service, he retired from the police department and went to work at Anheuser-Busch, where he stayed until he retired.
During retirement he moved to Pass Christian, Mississippi, a place where he could enjoy all of his favorite activities, including fishing, golfing, and hunting. As a result of his generous spirit and selflessness, he was loved by many.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stacey, and he leaves to cherish his loving memory, his children, Jamie and Brian Skinner, his sister and brother in law, Esther and Brad Boyer, and countless friends.
If anyone wishes to pay tribute to Greg’s life, a donation can be made in his honor to CurePSP, an organization whose mission is to raise awareness, build community, improve care, and find a cure for PSP, CBD, and MSA. Your gift not only brings progress, it brings hope.
The family of Greg wishes to extend our sincerest gratitude to the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital as well as Unity Hospice, who provided exceptional care and comfort during a difficult time.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 from 5:00-8:00pm at Pietro’s Restaurant, 3801 Watson Rd, St. Louis, Mo, 63109.
My most sincere condolences to Greg’s family. I counted him as one of my closest friends growing up. I will always remember him for his kindness and fierce determination. Rest in Peace, Gus. You lived a great life and leave a legacy of love to your family and friends.
My sincere sympathy and condolences to Greg’s family and friends. I have only fond memories of Gus. We played hard on the court and field. He was a fierce and focused competitor. We also played hard off the field, which got us in trouble a couple of times, but we survived. Rest in Peace my friend. The memories will live on!
I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to Greg’s family and friends and pay tribute to a life well lived. May he rest in peace.
My condolences to the family of my good friend Greg Skinner. Greg was exceedingly loyal to his friends and an excellent Police Officer and Security Professional at Anheuser Busch . God Bless you Greg and R.I.P. my good and loyal friend.

Feared by his enemies but loved by his friends, Greg was a mountain of a man and will be missed. I worked with Greg at the farm and was always struck by how he would take the time to hand write letters instead of using a computer. I wish there were more like him. Rest in peace buddy.
