It is with deep sorrow and hopeful faith that we announce the passing of Mona Mae Sliger (née Starkey), a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the age of 93. She had an unwavering faith, gentle spirit, and love she poured into every family member. A devoted follower of Christ, she lived a life rooted in grace. She is survived by her daughters Judy (Don) Morehead, Connie (Scott) Goodrich, Brenda (Dean) Morton. Loving and devoted grandmother to 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward with love and gratitude. She is reunited with her Savior, where we will one day be together. She was preceded in death by her late husband of 59 years Billy Ray “Bill” Sliger, Steve Sliger, Timothy Sliger, and great-grandson Phillip Steven Jett.
Visitation is scheduled on Wednesday September 2, 2026, at 10 AM and a funeral service starting at 11 AM at Parkton Assembly of God Church, 1670 Old Hwy. M in Barnhart. Burial will be at the Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis South County Chapel.
I am so sorry to hear about Aunt Mona , I am Mona’s oldest sister Bonnie baby daughter . Aunt Mona was remarkable you could definitely feel the Love of Jesus coming from her . She will be greatly missed she’s with momma and daddy and grandpa and grandma oh what a day that’s going to be to all be together again . She will be greatly missed she’s. But oh how heaven must be rejoicing they are all together now . So sorry I couldn’t be there at her memorial service.
So sorry to learn of Mona’s passing, there aren’t enough words to express the beautiful, kind, lady she was. God has another angel.

I was so sad when my cousin Judy called me with the sad news of her beautiful mom and my favorite Aunt of her passing away and now with her Lord and Savior. Our hearts are broken and we will miss her dearly. Growing up in St. Louis in the 60’s we were close to her and spent a lot of time at her house. I remember when my mom Phyllis, was diagnosed with cancer at the early age of 35. We were taken to Aunt Mona’s house and she welcomed me and my sister with open arms. It was a very scary thing to go through at the young age of 12 but her kindness and light shined bright while we were there. My mom had a full recovery which was rare in those days but we were blessed. She always had Jesus in her heart. We have so many wonderful memories of her and she was always sweet and kind. I’m so happy she’ll be with all our loved ones in heaven who were there to greet her. 💗 We will all meet again in Jesus’s holy name. 🙏
Aunt Mona , was always a great loving aunt to me , I could always feel the love of God when I was around her. I know I didn’t get to see her much mostly at funerals, so sad, but that is how it seems how we get together these days anymore .i on the miles were the reason for me, where I couldn’t visit like I wanted but I did call and talk on the phone with her different times Fly high aunt Mona we will see you again some day. You beat us home . R.I.P. love you so very much .

In memory of my Aunt Mona, I am one of Sterling and Bonnie Stanfills daughters Anita Hsley, (Bonnie Starkey Stanfill was Mona’s oldest sister my Dad and Mom) just a note to say I will always love Aunt Mona! My husband Horace and I use to go to Aunt Mona’s and Uncle Bill’s home and they would go to White Castle and buy a big box of White Castle Burgers we would enjoy setting around there kitchen table fellow shipping just talking about old times and about what and where Judy and Connie and Mona’s grandkids was doing and Uncle Bill’s trips rriding his motorcycle everywhere ! Now on with the best memories Mona had a talent of painting saws my husband Horace and I would always go see Mona and Uncle Bill when she would get a bunch of saws and pictures painted so we could buy them and take them home lot of them! I still have them hanging on my living room walls as all through my house ! I told Mona when I get retired someday, I hope to carry on her legacy and talent of painting so now I have to make that dream come true after I retire ! I loved being around her whole family she will be greatly missed! Aunt Mona I pray I can live a long life and paint some pretty saws and painting like you! Until we meet again in heaven sing those beautiful old helms like we use to , like God walks the dark hills and I fly away, Jesus loves me, The Old Rugged Cross! Love you Aunt Mona! Mona and Bill were members of Parkton Assembly when we came to Pastor 30 years ago. They were such a delight to know and pastor. They were always encouraging. Even when she was not feeling well, Mona always answered the phone cheerfully. She will be missed but we know she is with the Lord.
