Kenneth “Bob” Smoot, Sr.,
Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, on October 21, 2023 Bob passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at SSM St. Clare Hospital – Fenton. Beloved husband of Lee Smoot (nee Lumia) for 56 years, Dear father of Bob Smoot, Tina (Tony) Kimbrell, and Shelly Smoot. Loving grandfather of Jaclyn (Geraldine) Gallagher, Robert (Leslie Torres) Pannell and step great grandfather to Zach Merriman. Dear brother of Thomas (Peggy Harris) Smoot and Raymond Smoot. He was a loving Uncle to his nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his parents Herman and Mary Melcinia (Missey) Smoot, his brother Herman (Marcella) Smoot, and his sister Helen (Charles) Lubiewski.
Bob was born in St. Louis, MO and grew up in the Fairgrounds Park neighborhood in the 4300 block of John Ave. He attended Holy Name Parish and Grade School at 2047 East Grand Boulevard and De Andreis High School at 4274 N. Clarence Ave in St. Louis. Bob served in the Army, worked as a St. Louis City Fireman for about 30 years, and worked another 9 years at Dierbergs in South County. Bob was hard working and singularly devoted to his family. His quiet demeanor, humor, and love of his family and friends will always be remembered.
Services Funeral from Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, on Monday, October 30, 10:00 am to St. Joseph Catholic Church – Imperial for 10:30 am mass. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Backstoppers, appreciated. Visitation Sunday 4:00 to 8:00pm.
Bob was a very good friend of ours for many of years. He had a silent personality but one on one and in a small group of friends he made a strong impression. Thanks for a true and kind friendship ! You will truly be missed. Love- Greg and Cindy Maschmeyer
